Marga Essentials — Ladakh

For first-timers who want the real thing, not the tourist version of it

The journey

For first-timers who want the real thing, not the tourist version of it

This is Ladakh as it should be done the first time—the classic circuit done slowly, with enough room to breathe, stare out of the window and let the place actually land. Khardung La, Nubra’s cold desert, the double-humped camels and Pangong at sunrise: the icons, done right, at a pace that lets you feel them.

Where you will stay

Comfortable guesthouse in Leh · Camp or homestay in Nubra · Lakeside camp at Pangong

Good to know: The first day is deliberately light. At altitude, patience is part of travelling well.

Day by day

The itinerary

Routes may adapt to weather, permits and road conditions. The pace and care behind the journey remain constant.

Visit Diskit Monastery and its Maitreya Buddha, then meet Nubra’s rare double-humped Bactrian camels at Hunder. Stay for sunset on the dunes if the light cooperates.

Wake before the sun for Pangong at its stillest, then return to Leh over Chang La with pauses along the way.
